How to Get Rid of Cellulite?

What is cellulite?

There are a few explanations as to what cellulite is, but many more claims for how to cure it. One thing is for sure, no matter what the explanation for cellulite, it is considered an unsightly issue amongst a great number of people.

Some say that cellulite is a result of toxin build up in fat from pollutants that our body has not effectively processed, with a belief that this type of fat which we know as cellulite is in fact altered from our normal body fat resulting in the cottage cheese appearance. Bad circulation seems to be the primary basis behind these claims for cellulite.

However there are a growing number of people who believe that cellulite is just your everyday body fat pushed against the skin. To go further into this theory the problem here lies with connective tissue between the fat and skin. This connective tissues is damaged, not allowing it to control and shape the fat as it should, resulting in unsightly cellulite.

Why do I have cellulite?

Is it normal to get cellulite? First of all, if you are a female, cellulite is common, many woman, young and old will experience cellulite, whereas on men it is less common.

The idea that cellulite is a genetic condition, with no chance of being rid of it is one of the theories rampant amongst many people. There is no scientific evidence to support this, but it is a theory that circulates among the mainstream population. Do not take heed of this advice, not only is it incorrect, but it contradicts the idea that you can be proactive about cellulite.

If you have cellulite does that mean that you are fat? There does appear to be a strong link between cellulite and being overweight with the problem common amongst those who are overweight or obese.

What does Cellulite look like?

You may have already seen cellulite or even had it yourself and not known what it was. Cellulite is dubbed cottage cheese because of its unmistakable lumpy textured appearance. When present it is often clearly visible in the thigh, stomach and buttocks area. Clothing that leaves these areas relatively exposed such as shorts and bikinis will reveal the presence of cellulite.

How do I know I have cellulite?

Apart from recognizing the appearance of cellulite, you can test if you have some cellulite that is not clearly visible by pinching your fat. Pinching your fat in certain areas such as the top part of your thigh should reveal the cottage cheese appearance of cellulite if it is present.

How to get rid of Cellulite

What is the best way to get rid of cellulite? How do you get rid of cellulite in your butt/bum and thighs? These are the questions on everybody’s lips; time for an overview of the techniques and claims towards reducing or eliminating cellulite.

First some simple cellulite home remedies.

CELLULITE EXERCISES – Our Pick!

There are a few cellulite theories that exercise will address. Exercising helps circulation, improving the removal of toxins from the body. Furthermore, exercise will help you lose weight which has a strong relationship with cellulite, while toning the target areas that cellulite occurs such as the butt and thigh area.

Exercise is a good option for cellulite reduction because it is free, anybody can do it and it has a host of other benefits to your body and mind. Everybody should be exercising, so you may as well adopt exercises designed specifically for cellulite removal.

Cellulite cream

Cellulite creams claim to reduce/eliminate cellulite in a few ways

  • To firm and smooth the skin
  • Contract the muscles, smoothing the skin
  • Increase elasticity of the skin
  • To shrink fat cells at the surface of the skin
  • Stimulates the skin, removes dead skin and improves circulation

Interestingly enough some creams incorporate exercise as apart of their regime.

Moisturizers

How do moisturizers reduce cellulite? Skin that is dehydrated will expose cellulite more then skin that is not, so slap on some moisturizer to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Detox

Want to learn how to loose cellulite the detox way? The premise behind this approach is that toxins are the cause of cellulite and removal of these toxins will help hydrate and repair cells while strengthening the connective tissue.

A combination of the following steps are recommended using this approach

  • The Usual detoxification methods
    > Drink plenty of water
    > Plenty of vegetables and fruit
    > Avoid processed foods
    > Avoid alcohol and drugs
  • Brushing is another technique that has gained popularity on the logic that cellulite is a result of bad circulation and badly nourished skin. Through brushing, blood and lymph flow is stimulated.

Now we will take a look at some of the cellulite treatments available at medical and spa centres or establishments dedicated to cellulite treatment.

Body Wrap Cellulite treatment

This is a common treatment at spas and the like where wraps with creams are firmly tightened around the problem areas of the thigh, buttocks and/or torso. It is claimed that body wraps work to reduce fat, but the more skeptical of us will bring it down to fluid loss.

Ultrasound

In layman terms, the ultrasound stimulates fat cells like a mini massage.  The idea behind this is that the fat that makes up cellulite is processed more effectively by the lymph.

Cellulite removal by Liposuction

We are all familiar with liposuction, a very direct method of fat removal. Even if liposuction can make a difference it is not usually visibly effective until up to a year. Some even claim that liposuction can make the issue even worse.

So there you have it, our rundown of the theories behind cellulite and ways of reducing it. Our advice, do not get caught up in creams, brushes or services to reduce the appearance of your cellulite. Take a healthy approach to living better, being active, exercising and eating well.
