Face Lift
A face lift is known as a facial reconstructive type of surgery -- in layman's terms: plastic surgery. This type of surgery must be done by a reputable cosmetic surgeon for it to have very good results. Undergoing a face lift surgery will make a person look younger than her or his real age. Usually, those who undergo face lifts are those individuals whose ages range from forty to sixty years old, particularly those whose faces are already droopy and flabby. Depending on the needs and wants of the patient, different procedures or types can be chosen from. Face Implants - The usual parts of the actual face which undergo this type of procedure are the cheeks, jaw, and chin. On the cheeks, an implant is done at least within one hour. There are two methods that can be considered – the internal method wherein the implant is performed through the upper lip and the external method wherein the surgical implant is done by passing through the lower eyelid. Because of the variety in types of procedures, the stitches on the cut will depend on the method used. On a chin reconstruction, positioning is through the lower lip or under the actual chin. This operation is done in thirty minutes. Meanwhile, a jaw implant is done within a minimum of an hour or two when the lower lip approach is used. Stitches will protect the cut and will automatically soften over time. Thread Lifts -- This type of procedure can be the easiest and fastest way to have an actual face lift. It does not leave any type of scars and since recovery is very fast, the outcome usually looks very natural. Thermage -- One of the best alternatives to undergoing a surgical face lift is this procedure since the patient undergoes laser treatments. Eyelid surgery -- Sagging or excessive skin is taken out so eyes would look more youthful. Brow or Forehead Lift -- This maybe the answer to lessen fine lines on foreheads. To have the brow or forehead lifted, two ways can be considered -- conventional and endoscopic. Conventional Way -- The cut is done from one ear to the other ear and the sewn-up part is taken out after two weeks. Endoscopic Way -- This type of method is kind of tedious. The surgeon does some small openings between the scalp to put in the endoscopic instrument so as to have an actual guide of the forehead and brows. This is a useful tool for a surgeon so as to know where and how the procedure should be done. Neck Surgery -- This should also be done effectively if one wishes to achieve a facial lift with consistent results. Just like any other reconstructive surgery, a facial lift has some pre- and post-requirements to follow so as to get the desired results. However, a face lift is not an alternative way to have someone look exactly the same as another person. Before the actual surgical procedure, the cosmetic surgeon, together with the patient, must have a one-on-one discussion as part of the pre-operating procedures. Very important details about the medical and dental history of the patient must be discussed with the cosmetic surgeon. Information such as previous and present illnesses and diseases, prescribed intake of medication, and previous reconstructive/cosmetic surgery are examples of important medical history. During the one-on-one discussion, the surgeon and the patient talk about matters on how the procedure will go and what is to be done in the surgery, what kind of anesthesia is to be used, and the particular facial or body parts that the patient wants to be modified. It is very important that the patient for a reconstructive surgery must be both physically and mentally ready before undergoing such a surgery since it would mean a change in his physical appearance. The financial aspect is also important as well since it actually costs a fortune to undergo reconstructive surgical processes. The cosmetic surgeon will also give some pre- and post-operation instructions about the kind of medicines and food that should be avoided. | |||
