Japanese Women's Diet
The Japanese people follow a different medical tradition -- one that focuses on prevention rather than on cure. It is not surprising that their diet is healthy in this regard and people who have adopted a similar diet do so with the intention of benefiting from it. Western-based diseases may be safely said to take root from the very diet and eating habits, thus following the Japanese diet will likely lead to freedom from cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, and the like. Moreover prevention-directed food/medicine will naturally develop healthy diet, among many other results, not to mention the fact that health is basically about consuming healthy food. Also known as the Japanese chopsticks diet, Japanese women's diet follows cooking and eating habits that the Japanese people have developed within the settings of their culture. It is easy and practical to prepare and is appealing to a variety of tastes. Fish is the staple food for the Japanese people and they eat it almost during all meals. As for a dieter, if you will adopt this concept, the omega-3 oils will boost your immune system and if you eat fish instead of meat, you will eventually prevent yourself from acquiring heart diseases. According to the Japanese women's diet, soya is another healthy addition into your diet. Its consumption in various forms is responsible for low cancer-related death rate in China and Japan because of the cancer preventive properties thereof. In addition to fish, it is the Japanese people's source of protein. Fresh fruits and leafy vegetables and healthy, low-calorie, complex carbohydrate rice complete the Japanese food groups. These ingredients are usually cooked lightly by steam, pan-grill, simmering, and high-heat stir-frying -- methods that retain the nutrients thereof. Indeed, with the variety of recipes and cooking methods employed in the traditional Japanese diet, you will surely enjoy every meal. Enjoying the meal is an ever-present element in this diet; thus, you eat slowly and mindfully to satisfy yourself in bite size portions and to chew it well, not to stuff your mouth full with food and think about something else. In this way, you do not overeat. However, to ensure healthy eating, even food preparation and presentation must be made in the Japanese way - in a compact, beautiful, and pleasurable manner. Each bite-size portion must contain sufficient combinations of food so that you eat it in a slow manner in order to savor it. You begin enjoying your food from seeing it; thus, your brain enjoys every moment of eating the high energy density foods. Moreover you will not develop the temptation to eat heavily in between meals. The traditional Japanese women's diet opts for complex carbohydrates in healthy brown rice than in processed foods, cookies, or pastries to make you feel full. Rice is served with every possible combination of vegetables and fish, all cooked lightly. There are five or more foods in each meal and the fruit desert completes everything. The Japanese women's diet also believes that overeating is not about the genes because even Japanese people are plagued with obesity related diseases when they adopt Western food and eating habits. | |||
