Special K Diet

The dietary regimen called Special K is known for being something that espoused the unusual concept of eating breakfast cereals, and other sorts of cereals, as a means of weight reduction. Initially developed by people from Kellogg's, the company that makes several lines of breakfast cereals, some people are understandably skeptical on the benefits of this regimen. Essentially, Special K was formulated as a challenge that involved the total integration of Kellogg's cereal into a person's diet, which would be then combined with certain other weight loss elements, to allow a person to consistently lose weight on a weekly basis.

The program primarily boasts a simplicity that it claims is not found in other dietary plans. Indeed, the whole concept of this rather interesting plan's structural design involved making the system about as simple and easy-to-follow as possible, but without sacrificing effectiveness or efficiency. At the every core, the basic idea of Kellogg's diet system is to replace the main dish of each and every meal with cereal. While the idea may sound ridiculous to some, nutritionally speaking, this concept is not entirely ill-advised. Fruits and milk are also included in the plan, primarily to compensate for nutrients that aren't present in the cereal itself. In simple terms, the diet doesn't call for that much variation and, to an extent, even eschews some of the commonly accepted precepts of diet plans, such as calorie-monitoring.

Apparently, there isn't much of an issue regarding quantity in this plan. Unlike most dietary plans, which have a tendency to attempt to limit a person's intake of food, along with limiting what sorts of foods may be eaten, the cereal-based Special K regimen imposes no such limits. Incidentally, due to the nature of the average breakfast cereal, and the recommended Kellogg's cereals in particular, the intake of fats and calories is surprisingly low. In some independent reports, the intake is recorded to be as low as those of other successful dietary regimens, though without the need to limit just how much is actually consumed within the day.

The same idea applies to what you choose to drink, which isn't regulated. This notion is a feature that this diet shares with other programs, which doesn't pay particular attention to how much liquid intake a person has, for as long as the liquids are not alcoholic or otherwise dangerous to the person's body or against the diets protocols. The diet also doesn't impose strict restrictions on what liquids can actually be drunk, which is a somewhat irregular trait for what is supposed to be served as a comprehensive dietary plan.

The unfortunate lack of variation in what you actually eat, however, has come to pose a slight problem. In essence, the diet simply contains the cereals, a nutritious bar specifically designed for the system, the aforementioned fresh fruits and milk, and others. The ease by which this selection can stagnate is the primary weakness of the diet, though some have surmised that other cereals, and not only those of Kellogg's has specially adapted for this diet, can be eaten as well.

Regardless of the flaws, however, the Special K system is effective, if dull. The results are irrefutable, even if the means to getting those results tend to present themselves as rather unusual, even by today's "crazy diet plan" standards.
