Suzanne Somers Diet
The Suzanne Somers, also called Somersizing, is a pursuant to food combining principles, wherein carbohydrates can only be eaten with vegetables and protein can only be eaten with vegetables and fats. Protein and carbohydrates cannot be eaten together to prevent the release of incompatible enzymes, which will only neutralize each other, thus a dieter must wait for three hours before switching food combinations. Moreover, Somersizing recommends that fruits shall be eaten alone some 20 or more minutes before any other food or liquid is taken. The Somers plan, particularly, is a low carbohydrates diet. It strictly adheres to the concept that refined foods and overly processed products are prohibited. Although the Somersizing program offers veritable idea regarding maintaining a healthy eating habit, still, its critics assert that there is no scientific support to prop up the diet, especially considering that it does not follow medical food groups and combinations. They assert that this will likely result to some nutritional deficiencies such as fiber, vitamins, minerals, and complex carbohydrates. At the same time, this plan allows the dieter to have dairy products like cheese or yogurt with vegetables, which other food combining modules strictly prohibit. For this reason, critics believe that eventually, the lack of carbohydrates will likely lead to lack of energy as soon as weight loss begins. As a weight loss diet, it is possible to lose weight through the Somersizing plan, although diet experts say that this is due to calorie and carbohydrates restriction and not due to the activation of metabolism. In which case, the weight lost will eventually return if the diet is discontinued. It is also asserted that the high protein-fat combination in the meals will lead to debilitating heart conditions or risks. The limits in fiber will also lead to some intestinal complications. The specific combination requirements of food require the dieter to prepare and cook his own food and there is not much food variety that food boredom may eventually ensue. However, the criticisms do not have effects on Somersizing diet. Here, once the dieter already know the food combining principles and has acquired enough self-discipline not to eat the wrong combinations, he will be able to apply Somersizing in his daily life. All the dieter needs to do is to put the incompatible food on the side and eat it after three hours. Because you allow the body freedom to digest the food you have eaten, there is no need to count calories or control food portions. The last thing you will have to learn is to eat only when you are hungry and stop when you already are. If you don't care about what the rest of the world will say, it is possible to keep on this diet plan for the rest of your life provided you take care to take in enough nutrients and food groups needed by your body. You have to listen to your body well. You will naturally lose excess weight and fat because the body is given the necessary space and freedom to do what it does naturally. | |||
