Waist to Hip Ratio Calculator
A waist-to-hip ratio calculator is a device intended for fitness testing or screening. While this calculator does not have the capability to replace the advices by medical experts, it can be safely used to determine your health status, most especially to remind you of the risks your health are most susceptible to. And it does this by deriving the results based on your body shape, while comparing the stats to the amount of fat around your hips and your waist. Generally, the waist-to-hip calculator identifies two body figures for those people with excessive body fats. These are classified as apple and pear shapes. Thus, if you are apple-shaped, your problem area is your waist, while if you are pear-shaped, you need to focus on your hips and butt. The waist-to-hip calculator determines the ratio by measuring the circumferences of the hips and the waist. Generally, you can do this by getting the measurement of the narrowest portion of your waist and around the widest portion of your hips. Divide the waist circumference by the hip circumference to get the ratio. Using the result, you can actually know if you have a higher chance of having health complications. However, all you need to remember is the ratio limit of 0.8 if you are a female and 0.95 if you are a male. If you exceed the ratio appropriate for your gender, then you are obese. This also automatically means that you are a candidate for developing (or you probably already have) cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and other complications related to them. Remember that the waist-to-hip calculator's result serves as a wake-up call if you find out that you are obese. However, you can counteract the possible diseases by consulting your doctor and integrating into your lifestyle the proper weight loss program including strength and cardiovascular conditioning and healthy eating. | |||
